At a recent Council meeting it was noted that some members are no longer able to operate from home due to planning restrictions, antenna limitations, or because they now reside in sheltered accommodation. As a result, they are missing the opportunity for regular on-air contact with fellow RAFARS members.
To help address this, RAFAC has established a RAFARS generic login and created a dedicated RAFARS channel within the RAFAC Virtual Radio System. This enables members to participate in a “virtual” RAFARS net using a PC, laptop, tablet, or smartphone, maintaining contact with the Society even if they are unable to operate a physical radio station.
In due course, and subject to licensing considerations, there may be scope to explore integration with the RAFARS HF net to provide a more seamless link between virtual and on-air participation.
Members who would like to test this system should contact the webmaster at webmaster@rafars.org for login details and instructions on how to use the system.
