It is with great sadness that I have to report that Terry Owen G4PSH has become Silent Key. Terry passed away in the early hours of Wednesday 20th October 2021 whilst in hospital.
Terry was a long-standing member of RAFARS and throughout the years supported the society in many ways, including being the Field Representative for Norfolk, the prime operator of the Permanent Special Event Station GB2RAF located at the Air Defence Museum at RAF Neatishead and as a champion of the RAF Air Cadet Blue Ham events.
Terry also held the Council Appointed Post of RAFARS News Desk Editor, producing the monthly newsletter for the website, emailing it to members and reading it on the RAFARS 80m net on the first Sunday of each month.
Terry was a personal friend and I used to enjoy his company at the annual RAFARS AGM and Dinner. Although we had not met face to face for quite a while, we were in regular email contact when dealing with the newsletter and I was lucky enough to chat with him briefly during the Zoom virtual AGM on 16th October. He had a great sense of humour and was never slow to remind me if I was slow to publish the newsletter on the website.
Our heartfelt thoughts go out to Wendy and all of Terry’s family at this difficult time.
The funeral will be on Friday 19th November at 13.00hrs at Cromer Crematorium.
