This is the first report after a short break due to holidays and courses.
Last weekend the Club Room was in use by the Air Cadets attending a Amateur Radio Foundation Course and a WAN/LAN, Data Comms Course. This was also the weekend of the Air Cadet Blue Ham Exercise on the 5 MHz frequencies. All 9 Candidates passed the Foundation Exam and the Cadets undertaking the WAN/LAN, Data Comms Course were also successful. The Cadets undertaking the Data Comms Course took advantage of Blue Ham to conduct their on air practice. Using PSK 31 they managed a two way contact with another station exchanging details of equipment being used.
On Saturday the 19 October Nick was in charge back at the club with Dave M5AGW, Dave G0KUC and Malcolm G7VRT attending the RAFARS AGM at No 1Radio School RAF Cosford.
The club and members were successful in several events during 2018 with the Club winning the RAF100 Contest and club member Mark MOHBQ being the runner up. In addition the Club was the winner of the Annual Affiliated Clubs Contest and runner up in the Christmas 2018 Contest.
The AGM was also an opportunity to meet up with other RAFARS members including Colin MW0OZI a great supporter of the RAFARS HF Nets.
