2018 will mark the 100th Anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force. It will also mark the 80th Anniversary of the formation of the Royal Air Force Amateur Radio Society (RAFARS), which absorbed the Cranwell Amateur Radio Transmitting Society that had been founded in 1936.
RAFARS has a long and fascinating history and records have been kept over the last 80 years that demonstrate how the society has evolved and how membership has changed with the advance of technology and the changes in the RAF itself.
2018 will be a memorable year and it's your opportunity as a member to become involved in operating one of the RAFARS RAF100 Special Event Stations (SES) or the Special Special Event Station (SSES) GB100RAF. See the RAF Centenary page on the website for more information.
A new 'Timeline' page has been added to the website to show the evolution of RAFARS, with events going back to 1922. Further memorable events will be added to the timeline to complete the historical record. If you have an event you would like to see on the timeline, please got in touch with the Webmaster.
