The RAFARS AGM was held in No 1 Radio School at RAF Cosford on Saturday 21st October 2017.
The Chairman addressed the meeting welcoming all attendees and apologies for absence were recorded.  The minutes of the 2016 AGM were approved and there were no matters arising to be discussed.
As the majority of the council reports had been published in the Autumn edition of the QRV journal, reports on the day were from the Treasurer and the Membership Secretary.  It was reported that RAFARS accounts are in good order and the membership numbers remained at a healthy level.
There had been no requests from the membership to join the council, so the current council was ratified for 2017-2018.
Following discussion prior to the AGM, it was announced that due to possible confusion arising from the recent ballot of members about changes in the constitution, the ballot papers that had been received would not be counted and that a new ballot would be held sometime in the future.  The proposed changes to the constitution were not of a critical nature and so the cancellation of the ballot would not affect the day-to-day running of the society.
The trophies and awards were presented and the date of the 2018 AGM and dinner was announced as Saturday 20th October 2018.  Due to the RAF100 commemoration events taking place throughout 2018, it would not be possible to hold the AGM at No 1 Radio School at RAF Cosford.  Council would discuss options and report to the members in due course.
There was no other business and the meeting was closed.
Following the AGM, there was an open discussion on RAFARS participation in the RAF100 centenary commemoration events.  The society was looking for proposals from members to operate both the RAFARS club callsigns and the Special Special Event Station (SSES) callsign GB100RAF.  Members should contact the Secretary if they wish to participate in the commemorative events. The RAF100 web page in the News area will be updated as details of events are notified.
