Ofcom have approved and issued the Special, Special Event Station (SSES) Callsign Golf Bravo Ait Zero Alpha Tango Charlie (GB80ATC) by a Notice of Variation (NoV) to Amateur Callsign M0SKT for him to operate from 5th Feb 20 until 4th Feb 22.
GB80ATC will be operating on the HF and 2 Metres Amateur Bands using Voice, Data and CW which means that Local, National and International Amateurs can work the callsign during the period of operation, the callsign will also be used by other current CFAV staff within the Organisation who live in the UK and hold a Valid Full UK Amateur Licence.
The Callsign will give awareness to Amateurs and listeners of the ATC/RAFAC and the work that they do with young people, it will also generate conversations from ex ATC/RAFAC Personnel which will no doubt bring some good memories and nostalgia back and add a sense of belonging.
In these challenging times when there are growing concerns about the effects of social isolation on people living in lockdown, the callsign encourages the 75,000 radio amateurs across the UK—as part of the 3,000,000 worldwide—to use their radio licences to chat and support each other across the airwaves, this can only be a good thing for their health and wellbeing with the conditions we are all living in at this time.
Due to the current COVID 19 conditions there will be no QSL Cards issued.
Callsign is listed on QRZ.Com and QRZCQ Pages.
