An ongoing RAFARS event, with operator certification based upon contacting AOTA activations running annually 1st January to 31st December. In addition to ad hoc activations, the aniversary weekend of RAFARS formation (the first weekend of April each year), will be a specific RAFARS AOTA weekend with possibly a second weekend later in the year.
To 'Activate' in a radio sense, current or former Ministry of Defence (or its predecessors), RAF or service stations, airfields, radio/radar sites, landing strips, including landing waters; located in Great Britain & Northern Ireland, dating from 1914 to current times.
Single operator based, but who may be supported by a club or society's portable operations. Only ATC Squadrons and other youth groups may enter as a multi operator group.
All current licensed bands with "Centre of Activity" to be around the RAFARS calling frequencies with Voice and Morse modes only. Digital modes will be considered in the future.
