The aims of the Society are to promote and foster amateur radio activities within the Royal Air Force and through Amateur Radio, to maintain and foster the close bonds that exist between radio amateurs serving in the Royal Air Force and those who have retired from, or have close links with, the Royal Air Force.

Falkland Island Expedition – VP8RAF/100

A group of Society members are mounting an Expedition to the Falkland Islands and will be operating from the Joint Services Welfare Facility Amateur Radio Station at Mount Pleasant Airfield using the call sign VP8RAF/100. This is to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the ‘Battle of the Falklands’ in WW1 on the 8th December 2014. The station should be active from the 4th to 12th December 2014. Other Falkland Island Amateur Radio Stations will also be active until 15th December 2014 as part of the celebrations. Frequencies to check are:

CW: 3.505, 7015, 10.112, 14.055, 18.070, 21.055, 24.892, 28.055
SSB: 3.790, 7.155, 14.270, 18.123, 21.290, 24.945, 28.535

The expedition will always be looking for the best band to work the UK.
